St Mary's is the parish church for the parish of Longframlington with Brinkburn.  The church dates from the late twelfth century and until 1891 was a chapel of ease to Felton; since that date Longframlington has been an independent parish, sharing a priest in charge with Felton since 2006. The church was restored in the late nineteenth century retaining its fine Norman chancel arch.  Because of its historic features the building in Grade 1 listed, but while we value a fine building our focus is on being the church for a 21st century parish.  In 2012 a modern Community Room was added on the north side of the church, providing a space for a wide variety of church and community activities for all ages.  St Mary's is not the only Anglican place of worship in the parish: Brinkburn Priory, under the care of English Heritage, is also used occasionally for services, including marriages.  In recent years, (barring pandemics!) it has also been the scene of our annual Ascension Day service.  See the Brinkburn page for more information

Until the 2021 departure of our Priest-in-Charge, James Harvey, we shared our priest with Felton, our neighbouring parish to the east: James was also part of the diocesan youth team.  In the future we expect to have a similar arrangement, but sharing our priest with Whittingham rather than with the Diocese. We are fortunate to have a retired priest, Michael Hepper, as a very active member of our congregation. He was actively involved as an Associate Priest in the parish from 2018 up to the end of 2021, but he continues to play an very active role and is one of a number of clergy with permission to officiate at St Mary's.  For more details about the parish as a whole and Brinkburn Priory, see the Benefice page

Like other churches and indeed the whole community, St Mary's had to adjust radically during the Coronavirus pandemic. Recognising that some people are still reluctant to come to church in person, and others are anxious about social contact, we ask worshippers to be sensitive to, and respect, the needs of others in the congregation. This site provides links to a range of online services.  We no longer stream or record services  at Felton or Longframlington,  but an archive of services remains available on our YouTube channel.  Worship and prayer materials can also be found in the news and notices section of this website.
